THE POETS
Peter Sansom was born in 1958 in Nottingham and educated at Huddersfield, where he taught the Poetry MA for ten years. A Director of the Poetry Business and editor of The North and Smith/Doorstop Books, he has been company poet with both Marks and Spencer and The Prudential. His fourth collection, The Last Place on Earth (Carcanet 2006) was followed in 2007 by his first book for children, The Ice-Cream Carpet.
Ann Sansom was born in 1951 in Doncaster and lives in Sheffield with her husband, poet Peter Sansom. She has written and directed two plays for Yorkshire Women's Theatre, taught for the Arvon Foundation and the WEA and for fifteen years has been writing tutor at Doncaster Woman's Centre. She has published two collections, Romance (Bloodaxe 1994) and In Praise of Men and other people (Bloodaxe 2003).
Katrina Porteous is a poet, historian and broadcaster. Born in Aberdeen, Scotland in 1960, she grew up in Country Durham and has lived in Northumberland since 1987 when she began working as a freelance writer. Her first collection, The Lost Music (Bloodaxe, 1996) featured many poems concerning her local fishing community while Longshore Drift (Jardine Press, 2005) focuses on the Suffolk coast's fishermen.
