Larry Levis died suddenly ten years ago at the age of 49. A former student of Philip Levine – the most gifted poet I have ever had the good fortune to have in one of my classes – he published six collections, the last one edited posthumously by Levine. Levis’ reputation continues to grow in America, but he’s remained a closely guarded secret here. Until now.
